Habitat for Humanity’s 2021-23 Faith Build project in Hatfield is complete!

Habitat for Humanity built four homes over the last 18 months with financial and volunteer support from Gwynedd Square and other local churches. As a “Windows and Doors” sponsor of this local Faith Build, GSPC pledged financial support of $10,000 and a commitment of 40 volunteers during the construction of two twin homes in Hatfield. These new homes provide decent, affordable housing for four families. The homes were completed in March 2023; the families are all moved in and are extremely grateful for the support of Habitat and the local churches that supported this Faith Build project.

Meet the Arvelo Family!

This lovely family of four was chosen as the 2022 FaithBuild family and has moved into one of the four Habitat homes being built in Hatfield. In a letter of gratitude to the FaithBuild community, the family shared "Today we have received our miracle, today is day one of the rest of our lives." Read their full letter here

FaithBuild Updates and Photos

March, 2023: Construction finished, homes dedicated and the Arvelos have moved in!

January, 2023: Habitat's Faith Build, together with the 3 other townhomes in Hatfield, has progressed rapidly. Exterior work and preliminary landscaping are complete, and interior work should be finished within the next 2 months. Home dedications are expected in early Spring. GSPC volunteers helped paint interior walls at our final volunteer Build Day on January 7.

December, 2022: We are nearing the finish line! At our November Build Day, Gwynedd Square volunteers put insulation in the walls with outside exposure. Next step is installing the drywall. Estimated project completion date is March 2023! Our January 7 Build Day will probably be our last, so please sign up if you have not yet had an opportunity to participate!

August/September, 2022: Construction is progressing rapidly! At our July Build Day 5 GSPC members worked with other volunteers and some of the homeowners for 5 HOT hours measuring, cutting and nailing styrofoam insulation to the front of one of the twin homes. We are grateful for their contribution of "sweat equity" to support our volunteer pledge to this project! Our next volunteer Build Day is schedule for November 5th. July, 2022: The nine churches participating in this Faith Build project have collectively raised $83,858 as of July. We are happy to announce that GSPC is the top supporter, raising to date $15,566. A huge thank you to all who have donated!

June, 2022: The foundations have been poured and the homes are framed - see latest photos below!

Our first Build Day was held on January 21, 2022 at the Habitat ReStore warehouse in West Norriton. GSPC members framed walls for future installation in Hatfield’s twin-homes in Spring 2022.

December 2021 fundraising update: Sponsoring churches have donated to date over $25,000 toward the $142,000 goal, and Gwynedd Square has donated over $6,300 toward our goal of $10,000. Update January 2022: Gwynedd Square has met their original goal of $10,000 - but we continue to add to the FaithBuild fund and donations are still most welcome and encouraged. Update June 2022: GSPC has well surpassed their initial goal with a total of $15,000 raised to date! Collectively, the 9 sponsoring churches have raised $80,000. We continue to seek additional funds towards meeting the overall goal of $142,000.
